FAQs

Primetel WiFi Calling combines the benefits of new VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) and VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technologies. Specifically, with VoWiFi, Primetel mobile subscribers can make and receive calls and SMSs even when their signal is very low, provided they are within range of any WiFi network to which they have access. Also, with VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology, mobile calls are made faster, have improved sound quality with lower power consumption, while allowing simultaneous use of 4G/4G+ mobile data during the call.

Yes, as long as there is an internet connection.

To be able to use the Primetel WiFi Calling service, it is sufficient:

  1. To be a subscriber to any Primetel contract or prepaid program.
  2. To have a compatible device (see above).
  3. To have 4G activated on your connection."

Nothing changes in your experience. The Primetel WiFi Calling service doesn't require the installation of any application on your mobile. It's automatically available once you activate it.

No. The activation of the service is free, while calls are charged according to the plan you have.

By default, calls are made using VoLTE if there is 4G coverage; otherwise, they are made using 2G/3G (as is the case today). If there is no mobile signal, and your device has access to a WiFi network at the same time, calls are made via VoWiFi. On Samsung devices, there is an option to prioritize VoWiFi, even when there is a mobile signal (recommended only in cases where the WiFi connection is strong and the mobile signal is weak). On Apple devices, after a software upgrade, you can enable the option for calls over Wi-Fi through the settings menu on your phone.

The call will continue via VoLTE if there is 4G coverage. The same applies to the reverse transition, i.e., from VoLTE to VoWiFi.

Yes, is available everywhere, as long as your device supports it.

A VoWiFi call is like a regular call but the channel used is the internet instead of a phone line. When you use VoWiFi, you won't be using Primetel's Mobile Network. Instead, you are going to make voice calls through the Wi-Fi network.

Yes, you may still initiate calls and receive calls.

Given that your device is on the supported devices list on our website, VoLTE and/or VoWiFi will be included in your device's software update. There is no ‘special’ update for VoLTE and for VoWiFi.

For Android phones, you should be able to see the VoWiFi icon beside your Wi-Fi signal bar.

Yes. VoLTE requires 4G network signal, regardless if the mobile Data is ON or OFF or if you have any data bundle. VoWiFi, simply requires a Wi-Fi connection, including free Wi-Fi, MiFi Wi-Fi, and mobile hotspot.
